
Swart, Former Orange Invited to Team USA Training Camp

Assistant Coach Sydney Pirreca Also Among Invitees
SPARKS, Md. – Syracuse's Sam Swart is among 36 players invited to the U.S. women's national team training camp scheduled for June 29 through July 1 at USA Lacrosse Headquarters. The list of invitees also includes Orange assistant coach Sydney Pirreca as well as Syracuse graduates Becca Block '13, Liz Hogan '11, Kayla Treanor '16 and Michelle Tumolo '13.

Graduate student Emily Hawryschuk is one four players who are invited to the training camp but are unable to participate due to injury.

Swart had a breakout season in 2021, posting career highs in points (46) and goals (39). The midfielder also picked up a career-best 17 ground balls to go along with four caused turnovers. Swart was named an honorable mention All-American by Inside Lacrosse and earned first-team All-Northeast Region and second-team All-ACC accolades.

Pirreca just completed her second season on the Syracuse coaching staff. She helped guide the 'Cuse offense, which ranked 14th in the nation in scoring offense, averaging 15.14 goals per game. Under her tutelage, juniors Megan Carney and Meghan Tyrrell earned IWLCA All-America honors.

Block, Treanor and Tumolo helped Team USA win gold at the 2017 World Championship in Guildford, England, while Hogan is a veteran of the national team program.

The upcoming training camp is the first of three camps/competitions for the U.S. women's team through the remainder of the year. The squad will compete at the Fall Classic from Oct. 14-17 before participating in the IWLCA Presidents Cup in Dallas from Nov. 18-21. The U.S. team is building towards the World Lacrosse Women's World Championship scheduled for June 29 – July 9, 2022 at Towson University.
