SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Graduate student Lila Nazarian has been voted to the CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Team and advances to the Academic All-America ballot.
Nazarian was one of 14 student-athletes voted to the District I At-Large squad, which includes schools from Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont. The team was selected from a ballot of nominees from 14 different sports. Each nominee must have a minimum GPA of 3.3 coupled with on-field accolades.
Â
The Academic All-District honor is one of several for Nazarian this season. The Baltimore, Maryland native earned the NCAA Elite 90 Award for women's lacrosse for having the highest cumulative GPA among the student-athletes competing at Championship Weekend. Nazarian also earned the One Love Foundation's YRL Unsung Hero Award for her work in the Syracuse community and was selected to the All-ACC Academic Team.
Â
Nazarian played in all 21 games this season. The defender recorded 18 ground balls and 10 caused turnovers. She helped the Orange hold their opponents to less than 10 goals in 10 contests in 2021. The unit, which ranked 15th in the nation in scoring defense, helped Syracuse make its eighth appearance at Championship Weekend where it advanced to the national title game for the third time in program history.
Â
Nazarian earned her bachelor's degree in citizenship and civic engagement and political science and a Master's degree in public administration.
Â
CoSIDA Academic All-Americans, which are selected from the all-district teams, will be announced in August.
