Host Connecticut (4-2) scored 1:56 into the contest and never trailed in defeating Syracuse (4-2-1), 3-0, at Storrs.
The Huskies got goals from Cara Jordan, Duda Santin and Lucy Cappadona in the victory.
HUSKIES STRIKE FIRST
Connecticut got on the board less than two minutes into the contest. Jordan found the back of the net at the 1:56 mark with her first tally of the season.
LEAD EXTENDED PRIOR TO HALF
After the early score, play evened out for the next 30 minutes with both squads earning opportunities. Connecticut then broke through with Santin's goal at 32:52.
Cappadona sealed the outcome with her goal in the second half, at the 58:32 mark.
COMMANDANT EMERGES FOR ORANGE
Freshman Koby Commandant, who has started all seven games of her rookie season, topped the Orange with two shots on the afternoon. One of her two attempts was on goal, testing the Husky goalkeeper.
