SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Syracuse volleyball team has its first road trip of the 2021 season at the Yale Invitational. The Orange will face Quinnipiac, Yale, and Hartford in a six-match round robin format on September 3rd and 4th. 'Cuse opens the tournament against Quinnipiac on Friday at 11 a.m. followed by a match against Yale at 7:30 p.m. Syracuse closes the tournament on Saturday with a match against Hartford at 1 p.m. Fan attendance is restricted to fully vaccinated Yale students, faculty and staff. All matches will be streamed on ESPN+.

Coming out the Gate
The Orange kicked off the season by winning the Syracuse Invitational with a sweep of Buffalo (3-2), Connecticut (3-0) and Albany (3-0). Junior Marina Markova earned tournament MVP honors after tallying 42 kills, seven digs, five blocks and four service aces, including a match-high 15 kills against Albany. Senior Polina Shemonova garnered all-tournament team recognition. She recorded 50 kills and 42 digs in the three matches.
Shemanova Climbs 'Cuse Record List
Senior Polina Shemanova increased her career kills total to 1,069, which ranks 13th on the Syracuse career kills record list. She passed Nicolette Serratore (1,068 kills from 2011 to 2015).
Preseason Praise
Senior Polina Shemanova and junior Marina Markova each earned a spot on the 2021 All-ACC Preseason team. Syracuse was picked to finish sixth in conference in the Preseason Coaches' Poll.
