Syracuse (2-0) is set to host Binghamton (2-0) on Empire State Night, Monday, Nov. 14 at the JMA Wireless Dome. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. on ACCNX.
Everything from in-game entertainment to music selection will be New York themed to celebrate the first theme game of the season for the Orange. Syracuse has four student-athletes who call New York home, including all three captains Teisha Hyman, Dyaisha Fair and Kyra Wood as well as sophomore forward Saniaa Wilson.
The Orange are looking for their first 3-0 start since the 2020-21 season and their first three-game home win streak since last December when the Orange beat Cornell, Clemson and UMBC from Dec. 8-18. Syracuse is led offensively by Fair, who has a team-best 14.0 points per game. Dariauna Lewis has a pair of double doubles under her belt two games into her Syracuse career, and leads the ACC in offensive rebounds per game (7.0), defensive (6.0) and rebounding average (13.0). She adds 13.5 points per game on the offensive end of the court. Hyman is the team's assist leader through the first two games with 5.0 helpers per game and Alaina Rice is coming off a 16-point, six-rebound performance in the Orange's last outing, a 72-48 win over Colgate last Thursday night. Saniaa Wilson came off the bench in the win to score 10 points and block three shots while shooting 100 percent from the field (4-for-4) and a perfect 2-for-2 at the charity stripe.
Binghamton is coming off a 76-61 win over Army last Thursday. The Bearcats won their season opener, 63-46, against Bloomsburg on Nov. 7 and are led by Clare Traeger who averages a double double with 15.0 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. She had a 14-point, 15-rebound performance in the 15-point win over Army. She is second in the America East in rebounds per game and No. 12 in scoring average.
Monday night's contest is the first meeting for the Central New York neighbors since 2012. Syracuse leads the all-time series 7-1 and has won the last four meetings. Binghamton's lone win in the series was a 74-52 win in the Carrier Dome on Dec. 17, 2015.
