Men's Rowing Completes Fall Season at Princeton Chase
11/6/2022 7:27:00 PM | Men's Rowing
The Syracuse men's rowing team completed its fall season with a strong showing at the Princeton Chase on Lake Carnegie on Sunday afternoon. The Orange varsity eight crew, which was the top collegiate boat at the Head of the Charles two weeks ago, continued its winning ways finishing the three-mile chase in 12:59.826, nearly four seconds ahead of Princeton (13:03.294). Additionally, Syracuse's top four earned the win in the afternoon session finishing in 14:06.464, edging Princeton once again (14:09.221).
"I thought it was mission accomplished in terms of getting a lot of our younger athletes some crucial racing opportunities," head coach Dave Reischman said. "For many of them it was the first time to wear the Orange jersey. Winning the 8 and 4+ were certainly good bonuses but I thought we had some solid racing across the various crews. Now it is time to focus on finishing the term strong academically and continuing to build the solid work habits that will carry us through to the start of our spring racing season in April."
In the morning session, Syracuse's B boat finished sixth overall while the Syracuse C crew earned 14th and the D boat was 17th. The afternoon session saw the two top boats split into four quads, which the Syracuse A won, while Princeton took second and third in the event while the C and D eights from the morning flight raced as Syracuse A and Syracuse B, finishing fourth and 16th, respectively.Â
The Orange complete their fall season after racing at the Head of the Charles and the Princeton Chase. 'Cuse will spend the winter training to build off the solid fall results the squad had in limited racing.Â
