
Syracuse to Face Local Foe Colgate Thursday

Syracuse returns to action Thursday night against local in-state foe Colgate (1-0) at 7 p.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome. The Orange (1-0) are coming off a season-opening win over Stony Brook, 79-56, in Felisha Legette-Jack's debut as head coach at her alma mater.

Four Syracuse players scored in double figures in the first game of the season. Senior guard Dyaisha Fair led the charge with 18 points and four assists while Teisha Hyman added 16 points, had nine rebounds and a team-best six steals. Fifth year transfer Dariauna Lewis posted a double double in her first career game with 15 points and 16 rebounds while Asia Strong added points.
Colgate went 6-24 last season in head coach Ganiyat Adeduntan's first season in Hamilton. In Monday night's season opener for the Raiders, she guided her team to a 62-48 win over Cornell. Taylor Golembiewski led the team with 22 points shooting 8-for-17 and making four three-pointers. Mogan McMahon added 10 points and three rebounds in the Colgate victory.
Thursday's matchup will mark the third time that the programs have faced off in the last six years dating back to 2017. The Orange are 15-0 all-time against Colgate and last played on Nov. 28, 2021, where Syracuse won in a 79-57 rout in the Dome. Hyman scored 16 points and added five rebounds and four assists in the win.
For those who are unable to attend, fans can watch live on ACCNX or listen on ESPN Syracuse radio (97.7 FM). Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. in the JMA Wireless Dome with gates opening at an hour earlier.
