2023 Men's Rowing Schedule Announced

One of the top crews in the nation is primed for another successful spring season. The Syracuse men's rowing team is coming off the heels of one of the most dominate fall seasons in program history and has a challenging spring schedule to built to catapult the Orange into podium contention at the Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Championship Regatta June 2-4 at Mercer Lake in New Jersey.Â
"We always try to schedule our traditional cup races with a few select races that really challenge our athletes and prepare them for our championship races at the end of the season," head coach Dave Reischman said. "Last year we started with defending national champion, Washington, and this year we will start with defending national champion California and Stanford out at Redwood Shores. Then we will come back to the east coast and finish with our always tough cup races. We are confident this is a challenging schedule that will prepare us well for the Sprints and IRA."
There is no easing into the competition as the Orange begin the season with a cross-country trip to Redwood Shores, Calif., where they will face defending national champion Cal, Stanford and one team to be announced later April 8-9. Syracuse then travels an hour southwest to Ithaca the following weekend for the Goes Trophy race, the first of two cup races for 'Cuse. In Ithaca, the Orange race Navy and Cornell on Saturday, April 15.Â
Syracuse returns to Lake Morey this spring for a four-team round robin with Dartmouth, Boston University and Georgetown April 29 and 30. It's the final two cup races of the season for the Packard Cup (vs. Dartmouth) and the Conlan Cup (vs. Boston U).Â
The Orange hope have an impressive showing at the Eastern Sprints on Sunday, May 14, in Worcester, Ma., to earn a qualifying spot to the IRA Regatta three weeks later at Mercer Lake in New Jersey.Â
