
Orange Open ACC Play on Sunday, Host Alzheimer's Awareness Day

The 8-2 Syracuse Orange host Wake Forest (8-3) in the JMA Wireless Dome Sunday at noon. It's the Atlantic Coast Conference opener for the Orange while the Demon Deacons enter Sunday's game 0-1 in the ACC after losing their opener to Virginia. Fans attending are encouraged to wear purple for Alzheimer's Awareness Day. The game will be televised nationally on ACC Network with John Brixley and Christy Thomaskutty on the call.Â
Syracuse enter's Sunday's ACC matchup undefeated at home with a 7-0 record in the Dome. Dyaisha Fair leads the orange in scoring (18.4 ppg) and assists (4.7 apg). Ranked No. 4 in the ACC in scoring, Fair is joined in the backcourt by Teisha Hyman (14.3 ppg) who is also top-10 in the ACC in points per game. Dariauna Lewis is second in the ACC in rebounds per game and is averaging a double double with 11.0 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Additionally, she is third in the ACC in blocks per game (2.0).Â
Wake Forest is led by Jewel Spear (15.4 ppg), who is fifth in the league in scoring average. The Demon Deacons are led by first-year head coach Megan Gebbia and ride a five-game win streak into Sunday's matinee on ACC Network. Wake Forest is shooting 40.9 percent from the field this season and is holding opponents to 56.1 points per game.Â
Syracuse holds the all-time record in the series, 7-3. Last time the two met, Wake Forest earned a 76-60 win in Winston-Salem.Â
