THE ARMY SERIES
- Army holds a 41-27 advantage in the all time series between the two programs, but the Orange have emerged victorious in eight of the past 10 matchups.Â
- In last season's meeting between the two teams, Army erased an early five-goal lead from Syracuse to win 18-11 in the Dome. In three of the last-four matchups between the programs, the winning team has erased a four-or-more goal early deficit.
- In their 69th meeting, Army is 'Cuse's third-most common opponent behind just Hobart (106) and Cornell (105).
- In addition to Tucker Dordevic (7 points), Brendan Curry (6 points) and Jakob Phaup's (48-of-65 faceoffs) strong performances against the Black Knights, Syracuse's newest addition has also been good as well. Bobby Gavin made 13 saves and earned ACC Player of the Week honors last year at Virginia for his performance against Army in what was his first collegiate start.
ORANGE IN BOUNCE-BACK GAMES
- The Orange are 73-27 in games following a loss during a season (this record does not include the season opener following season-ending losses) in their last-100 tries.
- Since the team won its first NCAA Championship in 1983, 'Cuse has only had 15 "losing streaks" (two or more consecutive losses) in 40 seasons.
AGAINST THE PATRIOT LEAGUE
- Syracuse is 117-80-2 all-time against the nine current members of the Patriot League.
- The Orange will play Holy Cross (W, 28-5) and Army from the Patriot League this season. The Orange also faced Loyola in a closed scrimmage in January.
- 'Cuse boasts a 49-12-1 mark against Colgate, 27-41 record against Army, 9-19-1 record vs. Navy, 8-0 record vs. Bucknell, 3-2 record against Lehigh, a 2-0 record against Holy Cross and a 19-6 record against Loyola.
A GAUNTLET LIES AHEAD
- Syracuse played the top-two teams in the USILA Poll in the span of seven days after hosting Maryland last Sunday and then hitting the road to face Virginia last Saturday. That trend continues with No. 13 Army on Wednesday.
- In the near 50 year history of the USILA Poll, this is just the eighth stretch where 'Cuse plays three-or-more games in a row facing off against an opponent ranked higher in the poll than them.
- Every opponent except one (UAlbany) left on the Orange's 2022 schedule is at least receiving votes in this week's USILA Poll.
STATE CHAMPS
- Syracuse has five games scheduled against in-state competition this season.
- Historically, Syracuse has dominated New York. Owning a combined 418-161-10 record against teams from New York.
NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS
- Since joining the ACC, the Orange is 55-16 versus non-conference opponents, including a 51-11 mark in regular-season, non-league contests.Â
A WIN AGAINST ARMY WOULD...
- Snap Syracuse's two-game losing skid and even the Orange to 2-2 on the season.
- Be the program's 926th victory, second all-time behind Johns Hopkins.
- Improve 'Cuse to 256-44 in the Dome all-time, with Wednesday's game being the 300th Syracuse lacrosse game played in the venue.Â
