
Orange Have Second Two-Win Day of the Week

HEMPTSTEAD N.Y.- Syracuse (15-9 overall, 1-5 ACC) won both of its games against Iona and Hofstra on Friday, March 18. The Orange defeated the Gaels in a walk-off eight-inning game, 2-1. They won their game against Hofstra 6-0.
GAME ONE
The solo run of the game for Iona in the first game came from a homerun in the second inning. The Orange pushed a run across in the sixth inning to tie the score. Two back-to-back doubles from graduate students Paris Woods and Neli Casares-Maher produced the tie score.
The game went into extra innings after a scoreless seventh inning. Ariana Adams held the Gaels on the mound to no runs in the eighth inning. Sophomore Angel Jasso was responsible for the walk-off double to clench the game for Syracuse.
GAME TWO
Tessa Galipeau got the Orange going in the second game with an RBI single through the right side in the third inning. Jasso added her second RBI of the day in the fourth inning with a double to left field. Freshman Kelly Breen nailed a homerun to left center to give Syracuse a 5-0 lead in the top of the fifth inning.
Breen kept the Syracuse offense going in the sixth inning with an RBI double to right field to score Galilean from second base. The hit extended the Orange lead to 6-0 and remained there for the rest of the game.
OF NOTE
Syracuse will return to the field on Sunday, March 20 against Iona at 10:00 am. and Hofstra at 12:30 pm. to conclude its 10-day spring break trip.

- Ariana Adams pitched all eight innings against Iona, striking out 11 batters and only allowing three hits.
- Angie Ramos'Â diving play at third base saved a run in the eighth inning of the first game to hold Iona scoreless in extra innings.
- Breen hit her sixth homerun of the season in the second game.
- Lindsey Hendrix pitched a shutout in the second game.
- Breen led the Orange offense with three hits and four RBIs on the day.
Syracuse will return to the field on Sunday, March 20 against Iona at 10:00 am. and Hofstra at 12:30 pm. to conclude its 10-day spring break trip.
