
Orange Win Seventh Consecutive Game

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y.- Syracuse (17-9) swept both of its games against Iona and Hofstra on Sunday, March 20. The Orange won in the ninth inning 4-2 against Iona and then defeated Hofstra 4-1. These two wins mark seven consecutive wins for Syracuse.
GAME ONE
The Orange began the scoring in the first game after a double off the bat of Angel Jasso. She advanced to third on a passed ball and was knocked in by Kelly Breen off a single up the middle. Iona managed to push its first run across in the bottom of the first resulting from a wild pitch.
After several quiet innings, the Gaels scored their second run in the bottom of the fifth off a sacrifice fly. The Orange tied the score in the top of the sixth when Taylor Posner came in the game to pinch hit. Her double to center field scored Laila Alves from second base.Â
In the top of the ninth inning, sophomore Olivia Pess nailed a two-run home run to left center field to make the score 4-2. Iona's one run in the bottom of the ninth was not enough and the Orange won their second extra innings game against the Gaels.
GAME TWO
The Syracuse offense erupted early, scoring three runs in the top of the first. Breen, Rebecca Clyde and Pess were responsible for the hits that drove in the three runs. Hofstra responded with a run of their own in the bottom of the first to make the score 3-1 for the next five innings.
Breen added one more run to the board before the game was over with her solo shot to left center field to make the final score 4-1.
OF NOTE
The Orange travel to Atlanta, Georgia to take on Georgia Tech in a three-game ACC series. The first game will be on Friday, March 25 at 6:00 pm. They will play again on Saturday and 3:00 pm. and Sunday at 1:00 pm.

- Syracuse pitchers Kaia Oliver, Lindsey Hendrix and Ariana Adams compiled 13 strikeouts in the first game.Â
- Kelly Breen hit her seventh home run of the season in the second game.
- Breen has managed at least one hit in the last six consecutive games including three home runs.
- Jasso has also produced a hit in the last seven straight games.
- The Orange have one seven consecutive games.
