This Weekend in Syracuse Softball

HEMPSTEAD N.Y.- Syracuse (13-9 overall, 1-5 ACC) will conclude its spring break trip at the Hofstra Invitational with four games throughout the weekend. Hofstra's record is 3-13 and Iona's is 5-8.

The Orange will play Iona at 12 pm. on Friday, March 18 and Hofstra at 5 pm. that day. On Sunday they will take on Iona at 10 am. and Hofstra again at 12:30 pm.

ORANGE UPDATE

The Orange played three mid-week games, one against Maryland Eastern Shore and two against Coppin State. They won the game against the Eagles 5-1 and both games at Coppin State. The scores were 7-3 and 13-3.
In the game against Maryland Eastern Shore, Neli Casares-Maher and Tessa Galipeau had multi-hit games.
Galipeau led Syracuse at the plate against the Hawks going 3-for-5 with an RBI.
Summer Clark struck out six batters on the mound in that game.
Three freshmen had multi-hit games against Coppin State, Laila Alves, Taylor Posner and Angie Ramos.
Freshmen Kelly Breen hit her fixth homerun of the season in the secon game against Coppin State.
Geana Torres returned to her first game back from injury in the first game and recorded her first hit of the season.

THE OPPONENT
This will be the first match up between the Gaels and the Orange in both programs' history. Syracuse leads its series with Hofstra 5-3. The two teams have not met since 2015.
