
Orange Lose Series Opener at NC State

RALEIGH, N.C.- Syracuse lost to NC State, 8-2 in the first game in the series of three. Freshman Summer Clark (6-1) got the ball to start for Syracuse (9-5 overall, 0-1 ACC) but was relieved by Ariana Adams. NC State (17-2 overall, 1-0 ACC) used a five run first inning to take the lead it never relinquished.Â
Offensively, Angie Ramos paced the Orange going 1-for-3 with an RBI.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Trailing 5-0 in the top of the second inning, the Orange put a run on the board on Ramos' RBI single that scored Neli Casares-Maher from third base.
The Orange deficit grew to 6-1 before their offense got back on the scoreboard. In the fourth inning sophomore Ryan Gallegos came across to score on a sacrafice fly by Taylor Posner to make the score 6-2. NC State added two more runs in the fifth inning on the way to an 8-2 final.
OF NOTE
- Casares-Maher extended her hitting streak to six games.Â
- Ramos notched her first collegiate RBI.Â
- Adams recorded five strikeouts in 5.1 innings of work.Â
- The Orange offense produced three walks against NC State's pitcher Aisha Weixlmann.
