
Orange Lose to Hurricanes in Final Seconds

SYRACUSE, N.Y.- Buddy Boeheim's tallied 30 points in his final Dome regular-season appearance but Miami (22-9, 14-5 ACC) scored the last 10 points of the contest to edge Syracuse (15-16, 9-11 ACC), 75-72.
In addition to Buddy Boeheim's contributions, Joseph Girard III had 17 points and Jimmy Boeheim finished with 14 points and nine rebounds.
The Hurricanes' Jordan Miller led visitors with 25 points and 13 rebounds.
HOW THE GAME WAS DECIDED
Miami used a 15-2 run over the final 2:20 of regulation to grab the victory. Syracuse led, 70-60, before the Hurricanes stormed back. Miller's rebound basket put Miami ahead, 73-72, with 13 second left. The Orange attempted to counter, but Girard's jumper missed with six second remaining. Miller converted two free throws to lock up the victory.
CUSE CONTROLS
After Miami scored the first five points of the contest, the Orange ran off 11 unanswered points. Buddy Boeheim hit two 3-pointers and a layup during the stretch.
Syracuse kept its advantage and closed out the first 20 minutes with an 11-4 run. Buddy Boeheim converted five free throws and a 3-pointer in that span and the Orange entered intermission with a 37-26 lead.
A STORM BREWING
Bourama Sidibe began the second stanza with two baskets sandwiched around a Buddy Boeheim 3-pointer that increased the margin to 18 points, 44-26. The Hurricanes regrouped and posted a 13-0 run that shaved the Orange advantage to 44-39. Charlie Moore contributed six of the 13 points.
Syracuse gradually rebuilt its lead to 10, before Miami's last-minute heroics.

- Buddy Boeheim finished with 30 points for the second time this season
- Sidibe made his first start since Nov. 27, 2020. He was with the first unit of that matchup with Bryant, the season-opener in 2020-21. Four minutes into the contest he suffered an injury that kept him from the starting lineup for the remainder of the campaign.
- Miami posted a 42-16 advantage on points in the paint.
- Syracuse converted 21-of-23 (.913) free throws on the afternoon.
- Girard hit four 3-pointers in the game and took over sole possession of eighth on Syracuse's all-time list with 201. He had been tied with Lawrence Moten (197). He now sits four 3-pointers behind Demetris Nichols.
- Syracuse possessed the lead for 36:58 of the game.
