
Four Orange Named To Men's Basketball All-ACC Academic Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Buddy and Jimmy Boeheim, Joseph Girard III and Cole Swider have been named to the Men's Basketball All-ACC Academic Team.
The four Syracuse basketball standouts qualified for the recognition by earning a 3.0 grade-point-average in the 2021 fall semester and a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.0-or-better.
Buddy Boeheim, a senior, is expected to graduate this spring with a degree in sport management from the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. A first team All-ACC selection, Boeheim led the conference in scoring average (19.2 ppg.), free-throw percentage (.884) and minutes-played average (38.0). He was a member of the 2021 Fall Athletic Director's Honor Roll (3.0-or-above grade-point average) at Syracuse.
Jimmy Boeheim, a graduate student, transferred to Syracuse after earning his undergraduate degree from Cornell. He is working toward a master's degree in Education. Boeheim was named First Team Academic All-America as selected by the College Sports Information Director's of America (CoSIDA) following his one campaign with the Orange. He started all 33 games and averaged 13.7 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for Syracuse. After posting a 4.0 grade-point-average in the fall, he was selected to the 2021 Fall Athletic Director's Honor Roll (3.0-or-above grade-point-average).
Girard, a junior guard, is majoring in sport management in the David B. Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. One of three players who started all 33 Syracuse contests (along with Jimmy Boeheim and Swider), Girard averaged 13.8 points and 4.2 assists per outing this past winter. He was honored with selection to the 2021 Fall Athletic Director's Honor Roll (3.0-or-above grade-point-average).
Swider, also a senior, is finishing his degree in communication and rhetorical studies from the College of Visual and Performing Arts. A transfer from Villanova, Swider started all 33 games for Syracuse this winter and averaged 13.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game. He was selected to the 2021 Fall Athletic Director's Honor Roll (3.0-or-above grade-point-average) at Syracuse.
Virginia Tech led all schools with five honorees on the 2021-22 team. Louisville, Pitt and Syracuse each had four representatives.
