4/13/2022 11:04:00 AM | Track and Field
Abigail Spiers, JP Trojan and Matthew Scrape were named to the Indoor Track All-ACC Academic Team, which honors classroom performance in addition to racing success.
Student-athletes who finished in the top-six at the ACC Championships in their respective event, qualified for the NCAA Championships and/or earned an ACC Performer of the Week honor and met the minimum GPA requirement of a 3.0 cumulative and fall semester GPA automatically made the team. A small number of athletes were added beyond those athletic requirements as well.
All student-athletes who meet the GPA requirements are honored in June with the ACC Honor Roll.
Spiers had a strong ACC Championship, completing a scoring double in the 5000-meters and distance medley relay. She was seventh in the 5k in 16:28.07. Her strong track season has already transitioned to outdoors, where she was fifth in her section of the 10k last week at the Stanford Invite – with a new PR of 34:17.86. She is majoring in environmental engineering.
