
Orange Set PRs and Pick Up Event Wins at Pair of Weekend Meets

The Orange posted multiple PRs and picked up a few event wins across a pair of meets on Saturday.
Headlined by top sprints competition at the Auburn War Eagle Invitational, both Jaheem Hayles (21.23) and Trei Thorogood set PRs in the 200-meter dash. Hayles finished third overall, while Thorogood finished seventh. James Nmah also raced in 22.30 seconds.
Hayles easily won the 110-meter hurdles at the event as well. He finished in 13.84 seconds, 0.25 seconds ahead of Indiana State's Luigi Rivas for the win. Isaiah Lewis (14.39) set a PR as well, which earned him fourth. Anthony Vazquez (14.58) and David Peters (14.61) were seventh and eighth, respectively. Xayvion Perkins (14.77) and Naseem Smith (14.82) also raced.
Thorogood tied a personal best with a time of 10.66 seconds in the 100, which was 17th overall. Kahniya James finished 16th in the women's race (11.94 seconds).
James later took 20th in the 200 in a time of 24.76 seconds, followed by Janelle Pottinger (25.31).
For the second-straight weekend, Xayvion Perkins had a PR in the 400-meter hurdles, crossing the line in 53.07 seconds. Kirstyn Schechter finished eighth in the women's race in 1:02.83 seconds.
CJ Fox (14.68) took 22nd in the 100-meter hurdles, with Kirstyn Schechter (14.76) two spots behind.
The Orange also raced a 4x100-meter relay squad of Kaleia Arrington, James, Pottinger and Fox, which took ninth in 47.99 seconds.
At the Cortland Upstate Alternate Meet, the Orange took the top-five spots in the 1500-meter run easily. Caroline Kirby won the event in 4:46.08, followed by Shanley Koekemoer (4:50.28), Bethany Steiner (4:51.09), Emily Nugent (4:51.73) and Juliette Keller (4:55.67) in succession, all more than 18 seconds ahead of the rest of the field.
Nathan Lawler (4:02.80) then won the men's event by a full eight seconds. Teammate Matthew Dragon (4:19.00) was seventh.
Alexander Segarra picked up another win in the 400-meter run, crossing the line in 51.45 seconds. Mariana McManus (1:04.10) was second in the women's race.
Bearett Tarris also won the 800 in 2:23.82, while teammate Sarah Eddy finished third.
Sheridan McGadden (16.37) was second in the 100-meter hurdles.
