
Orange Battle in Close 3-2 Game with Cardinals

LOUISVILLE, K.Y.- Syracuse (20-18 overall, 3-13 ACC) lost a close 3-2 game to Louisville (24-17 overall, 8-7 ACC). The Orange battled back from a 2-0 deficit to tie the score in the bottom of the second inning. The Cardinals managed to break the tie and grab a 3-2 lead in the fourth inning.
Ariana Adams and Kaia Oliver both performed in the circle.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Louisville got an early start with its two runs in the first inning. A single to left field off the bat of Kendall Smith scored Carmyn Greenwood from second base. The Cardinals added another run off a single to right field.Â
The Orange tied the score in the top of the second inning. Designated hitter Geana Torres led off the inning with a single to right field. Oliva Pess came to the plate right behind and reached first on a Cardinals fielding error. Rebecca Clyde's sacrifice bunt moved both Pess and Torres over. Angel Jasso's single through the left side tied the score at 2-2, scoring Pess and Torres.Â
The Cardinals took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the fourth after putting runners on first and third. Dylann Cravens scored from third base on a wild pitch.Â
Neither team was able to push a run across in the last three innings, leaving the final score at 3-2.
OF NOTE
The Orange take on Colgate on Wednesday for a midweek, non-conference double header. The first game will start at 2:30 and the second is set for 4:30. The games will be broadcasted on ESPN+.

- Five Syracuse batters produced a hit today. Jasso, Tessa Galipeau, Kelly Breen, Torres and Pess all had one hit each.
- Syracuse committed no errors while Louisville had two fielding errors.
- Breen has had at least one hit in eight of the last nine games.
