THE GAME
- Syracuse plays Notre Dame on Senior Day for the last game of the 2022 season on Sunday.
- The game will be broadcast on ESPNU with Anish Shroff '04 (PxP) and Paul Carcaterra '97 (analyst) on the call. Brian Higgins '04 (PxP) and Kyle Fetterly '09 (analyst) will broadcast the action on TK99/105, Cuse.com, The Varsity App and the TuneIn App, while WAER will also carry the game.
SENIOR SENDOFF
- Twenty-two members of the Syracuse men's lacrosse program will be honored prior to Sunday's game. As is tradition, players typically walk with their class on senior day. Due to additional COVID eligibility waivers and redshirts and past senior day cancellations, this year's senior day will feature all fourth, fifth and six year players in the program, even though some have remaining eligibility.
- Basil Aburn, Mikey Berkman, Brett Barlow, Jacob Buttermore, Griffin Cook, Brendan Curry, Nick DiPietro, Tucker Dordevic, Nick Hapney, Cole Horan, Shahé Katchadurian, Brett Kennedy, Jack Kennedy, Matt Magnan, Grant Murphy, Dami Oladunmoye, Jakob Phaup, Lucas Quinn, Owen Seebold and Jerry Staats are the 20 players who'll partake, plus senior manager Will Findlay and Team IMPACT teammate Gaven Bort.
THE NOTRE DAME SERIES
- Syracuse looks for their first win over the Irish since 2018 on Sunday.
- While the Orange own a 10-8 advantage in the all-time series, Notre Dame has won each of the last four matchups.
- The matchup dates back to 2001, but 14 of the 17 meetings have come since 2010 when the teams have shared a conference (BIG EAST 2010-2013/ACC 2014-Pres.).
- Last time out, Syracuse lost 22-6 at Arlotta earlier this year.
RECORD LIST WATCH
- Syracuse has a number of players climbing single-season and career record lists at SU.
- Midfielder Brendan Curry (92) enters Sunday's game in eighth on the career midfielder goals list at 'Cuse. He's one away from tying his dad, Todd (93) for seventh. Jamie Trimboli (95) and Charlie Lockwood (97) are also in reach.
- Jakob Phaup enters the game with the sixth most (223) faceoff wins and second-most attempts (387) in a single season. His seventh attempt on Sunday will pass Bill Dirrigl (393/1988) for the single-season record. He could also potentially climb the wins list with Ben Williams (232/2016) and Chris Cercy (245/2001) both within 20. Dirrigl also has the single-season record at 274 faceoff wins in 1988.Â
-Â Phaup's 966 career attempts is second to Williams (1,089), Â and his 568 career wins is third behind Cercy (622) and Williams (669). His 109 GBs is fifth, two behind Williams (111/2016) for fifth in a season.
- Tucker Dordevic has 45 goals on the season, which is currently tied for 18th on the single-season list. The list is very tightly packed though. Four more goals this year (which would be slightly above his season average) would finish the 14 game regular season eighth. It would also be tied for the fewest games played by any of the players in the top-10.Â
- Defenseman Brett Kennedy (58) needs three more caused turnovers to tie Joel White (61) for fourth on the career caused turnover list at SU.
DOME-INATION
- Syracuse is 257-47 (.850) in the Carrier Dome since it began playing the majority of its home games there in 1981.
- 'Cuse has won 35 of its last-50 home games.
