Jaheem Hayles had a new PR in the 110-meter hurdles and came away as the fastest collegiate runner in a race that featured an Olympic Gold Medalist to headline the Miami Hurricane Alumni Invitational.
Hayles crossed the line in 13.69 seconds, a mark that is 13th fastest nationally to date. Omar McLeod – who won gold in London in 2016 – won the race in 13.27 seconds, followed by fellow professionals Nicholas Anderson and Zaza Wellington. Hayles was fourth, but 0.4 seconds faster than any other collegiate runner in the field.
He wasn't the only one to PR though, as Isaiah Lewis (14.46) and David Peters (14.52) also came away with career days, finishing eighth and ninth overall. Naseem Smith (14.75) and Xayvion Perkins (14.79) also raced.
Perkins would later PR in the 400-meter hurdles. The freshman took third overall in that race with a time of 53.39 seconds.
Shaleah Colaire was the Orange's top finisher in the 100-meter hurdles. She finished fourth in a time of 13.95 seconds. CJ Fox, Kirstyn Schechter, Sheridan McGadden and Olivia Etienvre also competed in the event and had would-be PRs had it not been for the wind (3.8).

Kahniya James was eighth in the women's 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 11.88 seconds. Teammate Kaleia Arrington (12.35) was not far off.
