
Hayles Posts Top-15 Time Nationally in Hurdles

Jaheem Hayles ran the 11th-fastest time in the country in the 110-meter hurdles on Saturday at the Penn Relays. His new personal-best time of 13.57 seconds earned him a second-place finish to Arkansas' Phillip Lemonious, who now has the nation's fifth-fastest time.
Hayles was the fourth member of the Orange to PR at the three-day event.
Additionally, Kaleia Arrington, Kahniya James, Janelle Pottinger and Shaleah Colaire raced in the 4x100-meter relay, posting a time of 45.67 seconds, which earned them sixth.
The Orange also sent some competitors to the Mountaineer Twilight race at West Virginia.
In the women's 1500-meter run, Shanley Koekemoer led the Orange with a time of 4:39.53, which warned her a fourth-place finish. Teammate Juliette Keller was one spot behind in 4:40.84, while Bethany Steiner finished eighth (4:43.95).
Matthew Dragon was the runner-up in the men's 5000-meter run, crossing the line in 15:11.39. The Orange also entered two women in the 5k, led by Caroline Kirby (17:38.10) in fourth and Emily Nugent (17:47.61) in fifth.
Mariana McManus finished fourth in the 400-meter run (1:04.39).
Sarah Eddy (2:26.59) and Bearrett Tarris (2:26.69) raced in the 800-meter run.
The Orange will conclude the weekend at the Virginia Grand Prix in Charlottesville.
