
Hayles and Colaire Score on Day 3 of ACCs

Jaheem Hayles reached the podium in the 110-meter hurdles, while Shaleah Colaire joined him in scoring for the Orange on the final night of the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Hayles, who took third in the 110-meter hurdles, became the second member of the Orange to medal in as many days after Annie Boos did so in the 3000-meter steeplechase on Friday.
Florida State's Trey Cunningham – the national leader in the event - won the hurdles in 13.16 seconds, followed by Clemson junior Giano Roberts in 13.43. Hayles took third in 13.58 seconds and remains one of the national leader in the event and will qualify for the NCAA East Prelims later this month.
Colaire turned in a new personal-best time in the 400-meter hurdles (59.84), which earned her a sixth-place finish and second team All-ACC honors. Duke's Lauren Hoffman won the race in 56.00 seconds.
Another season best was turned in by the Syracuse men's 4x100-meter relay team. They scored seventh after crossing the line in 40.73 seconds. The 'Cuse women took ninth in the event.
The day wrapped up with the 5000-meter runs. Savannah Roark led the Orange women with a new PR of 16:31.61, which was good for 18th overall. Teammates Olivia Joly (16:54.66) and Caroline Kirby (17:32.61) also set new PRs in the race.
On the men's side, JP Trojan was the top finisher in 13:52.72, taking 13th overall. The race was two days after Trojan had previously scored in the 10,000-meter run on Thursday with a seventh-place finish. Nathan Lawler (14:11.96) set a new PR in the event as well taking 27th, while Matthew Scrape and Nathan Henderson took 29th and 30th, respectively. Jack Whetstone rounded out the SU field with a PR time of 14:22.02, earning him 32nd overall in a field of well over 50 competitors.
Next, qualified competitors will race at the NCAA East Prelims in two weeks.
