Spallina Sets Long Island Points Record

Syracuse incoming freshman attackman Joey Spallina became the all-time leading scorer in Long Island history on Tuesday.
The nation's top-ranked recruit set the mark by tallying his 501st point as part of an eight-point effort that leading Mt. Sinai to a Suffolk County Championship. He broke another Orange star's record in Nicky Galasso, who tallied 500 points in five seasons while leading West Islip to four state championships.
Spallina's record is more impressive when you factor in his sophomore season (2020) being canceled due to COVID. He's believed to now be one of the top-10 scorers in New York history based on known statistics.
The centerpiece of what many are projecting as the nation's top recruiting class, Spallina will join the Orange this fall, along with nine Under Armour All-America Game selections – four more than any other school.

RECORD BREAKER 🥍 Congrats to Mt. Sinai's @JoeySpallina22 for breaking the all-time LI lacrosse points record. 8 pts tonight in the county finals vs. SWR gives him 501 in all! 👑 This was the record breaking goal. @News12LI @N12Sports @CuseMLAX @BrentAxeMedia @BrianHigginsSU pic.twitter.com/03KSK1071i
