Orange to Face Iowa and Purdue in 2023 ACC/Big Ten Challenge

Syracuse will play Iowa and Purdue in the 2023 ACC/Big Ten Softball Challenge in Raleigh, N.C. The eight-game Challenge is scheduled for February 17-19, 2023. Syracuse will face Purdue on Friday and Saturday and Iowa on Saturday and Sunday. The sixth annual ACC/Big Ten Challenge was expanded to include games played between the two leagues in the TaxAct Clearwater Invitational, in addition to other programs playing four games each at campus sites for the 2023 season.
Syracuse played in the inaugural ACC/Big Ten Challenge in 2016, beating Ohio State in two games and splitting the games against Purdue. The Orange also played in the 2019 and 2020 ACC/Big Ten Challenges.
The ACC owns a 3-2 lead during the first five years of the Challenge. The ACC won the Challenge in 2017, 2018 and 2020, with the Big Ten claiming the title in 2016 and 2019.
The remainder of the Challenge will be played at three other host sites – North Carolina (UNC, Virginia, Minnesota and Maryland), Georgia Tech (GT, Louisville, Wisconsin and Illinois) and Clemson (Clemson, Notre Dame, Northwestern and Ohio State). Duke, Virginia Tech and Florida State will play their Challenge games at the TaxAct Clearwater Invitational against Indiana, Michigan and Nebraska.
