Men's Soccer Concludes Preseason Against Saint Francis

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – The Orange men's soccer team wraps up its preseason slate with a third exhibition match on Saturday, Aug. 20 at the SU Soccer Stadium against Saint Francis. The contest kicks off at 7 p.m. and admission is free.

In its second exhibition against Villanova, Syracuse lost on an 83^rd minute goal from Wildcats forward Lyam MacKinnon, 2-1. Villanova opened the scoring with five minutes left in the first half, but Syracuse responded with an equalizer from forward Julius Rauch six minutes into second half. The Orange registered six shots on target, while Villanova only recorded four.

Saint Francis finished with a record of 7-8-0 last season under the direction of head coach Frank Olszewski. Three of those seven wins came in Northeast Conference play. The Red Flash return top goal scorer Patrick Heron, who found the net five times in the 2021 season.

The regular season starts on Thursday, Aug. 25 at the SU Soccer Stadium as 'Cuse takes on Iona. The match kicks off at 5 p.m.
