CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Syracuse volleyball locked in its second win of the Charlotte Invitational on Saturday morning, defeating Wofford in five frames, with a final score of 3-2.
The Orange (2-0, 0-0 ACC) secured the first two sets by scores of 25-19 and 25-17, but the Terriers (0-2, 0-0 SoCon) stole sets three (25-13) and four (25-17), forcing the match to a full five sets.
In the fifth set 'Cuse went on a 5-1 run at the midway point, where they only gave up three additional points before capturing the set. The match victory was secured by a kill from Viktoriia Lokhmanchuk, followed by a block by Bre Walp for the 15th point.

Just two Terriers recorded 13 or more kills in the match, Bella Zeman had 16 and Sarah Barham locked in 13.
As a team, the Orange paced the Terriers in kills (64-58), aces (5-4), Blocks (10-7), Assists (59-53), and digs (74-67).
Syracuse dropped its evening match to Charlotte, ultimately falling in three sets. In the final set, the Orange tried to pull together a comeback effort by going on a 5-0 run to give the squad a one-point lead, which remained a close contested effort until the final two points were scored by Charlotte.
For their efforts throughout the weekend, Shemanova and Lokhmanchuck were both named to the Charlotte Invitational All-Tournament team.
"I'm really proud of how our team responded this weekend," said head coach Bakeer Ganesharatnam. "We faced three teams that each have a history of success and will perform well in their respective conferences this season. So for us to compete with a fairly new squad and walk away with two wins, is a sign that we are doing the things that we need to do and moving in the right direction."
The Orange will be back in action on Thursday, September 1st, as they are set to head to the Sunshine State to partake in the UCF Challenge. 'Cuse will face Kanas State (Sept. 1st, 4:00 p.m.), UCF (Sept. 2nd, 7:00 p.m. ), and North Florida (Sept. 3rd, 2:00 p.m.)
