How it Happened
- The momentum was even through the first 15 minutes as both teams worked to test the other side. Syracuse took three shots in the first quarter while allowing one for BC, which came on the visitors' only penalty corner of the day.
- Things were even at halftime as well, with the Orange tacking on another two shots while allowing just one more in the quarter, the final Eagle scoring chance of the afternoon.
- Coming into the second half, Syracuse won the adjustment battle as the Orange kept the ball on the offensive half for a majority of the period. The Orange took seven shots, four of which were on goal and all stopped by Gillespie.
- The final frame was all Syracuse as the Orange offense broke through the Eagle backline.
- Less than 90 seconds into the fourth quarter, de Vries struck for her 10th of the year, getting a feed from Eefke van den Nieuwenhof on a corner, juking a defender and then hitting a heavy backhanded shot right over Gillespie's head.
- Five minutes later, Haarman tacked on an insurance goal, catching a forward pass from de Vries before taking a backhanded shot from nearly the same spot. Gillespie got a pad on it but too much pace from Haarman's effort put the ball past for a 2-0 'Cuse lead.
- Boogert got the final tally of the day with three minutes to go, receiving a slip pass from Comans before putting a backhanded off the left post to finish the day with a 3-0 Syracuse win.
- Syracuse out-shot the Eagles 17-2, including 7-1 on goal. The Orange pressure allowed the homeside 12 shots in the second half, with seven coming on goal. Syracuse scored on every shot on goal in the final period.
- De Vries scored her 10th goal of the season and has at least one point in eight of the 11 games contested to date.
- Comans added to her team lead with the sixth helper of her 2022 campaign. De Vries and Comans are tied for the team lead in points with 24 apiece.
- Borzymowski capped her fifth shutout of the season with one save. The Orange have seven combined shutouts this season.
- Haarman's goal was her first since Sept. 16 against Duke. Two of her five goals this season have come against ACC opponents.
- Syracuse improved to 26-10 all-time against Boston College. It was the first Orange win at J.S. Coyne Stadium over the Eagles since 2018, as the last three meetings have all been on the road.
- Syracuse's offense continues to be stingy at home as the Orange improved to 5-0 at Coyne while allowing just three goals at home this season. Syracuse has held opponents without a goal at Coyne for the last 191 minutes.
- The No. 13 Orange head to Pennsylvania for a Sunday showdown against No. 18 James Madison University.
- Game time is set for 1 p.m. in Villanova, Pennsylvania.
