The Orange will return to College Hockey America play this weekend at Lindenwood. Syracuse will square off with the Lions on Friday, Jan. 20 (8 pm) and Saturday, Jan. 21 (2 pm). The Orange (7-15-1 overall, 4-3 CHA) won two against the Lions (2-20-0, 2-6) this season in Syracuse and own a 40-6-2 advantage in the series.

Syracuse ranks in the top 20 in four statistical categories, including tied for fifth in shorthanded goals with four, 11th nationally in faceoff win percentage (.533), 14th in penalty kill percentage (.857) and tied for 16th in power play goals (13).

Syracuse goaltender Arielle DeSmet is one save shy of 2,000 for her career. The graduate student netminder had 31 saves against #10 Cornell in the last outing, marking her 27th career game with at least 30 saves. In the offensive zone, graduate student Lauren Bellefontaine is within three points of becoming the fourth Orange skater in the Syracuse 100-Point Club. She has 97 points (34 goals and 63 assists) in 149 career games. Bellefontaine ranks second on Syracuse's career assists record list with 63 helpers, which is nine shy of the Orange record of 72 set by Stephanie Grossi (72 from 2014-18).

Syracuse is in the midst of a stretch of eight games in 20 days. The Orange played #5 Colgate on Jan. 10 and #10 Cornell on Jan. 17. After the series at Lindenwood Syracuse will play at RIT on Jan. 24th and then host the Tigers on Jan. 25th before travelling to Mercyhurst for a pair of games on Jan. 28th and 29th to close out the first month of the year.

Junior defenseman Hannah Johnson has a team-leading 40 blocks this season, which is tied for fourth in the CHA.
Syracuse junior Sarah Thompson is one of 15 nominees for the 2023 Hockey Humanitarian Award, which is presented annually to college hockey's "finest citizen" and seeks to recognize college hockey players who contribute to local and/or global communities in a true humanitarian spirit. Fourteen months ago, the forward from Ottawa, Ontario launched 'Sticks Together' to provide children opportunities in sport. She worked on the concept for more than three years, brainstorming about the idea before the COVID-19 pandemic. The pause in moving forward because of COVID strengthened her passion and conviction to launch the initiative and she has not stopped working to grow the project.
