
Orange Tally More Personal Bests to Conclude Weekend

After the Orange set 16 new PRs on Friday between the John Thomas and Dr. Sander Invitationals, the Syracuse track and field teams followed it up with 15 more on Saturday.
Twelve came on from Boston this time, where Savannah Roark set a new personal-best time of 4:45.23 in the mile, which placed her 10th among collegiate competitors (16th overall) at the John Thomas Invitational. The women's mile featured nearly 150 competitors, with 'Cuse taking three of the top-25 spots overall.
Amanda Vestri (4:47.54) was 20th overall, with Abigail Spiers (4:49.18) taking 24th. Each of their marks were also PRs. Sydney Nowicki (4:54.46), Justus Holden-Betts (4:56.30), and Kensey May (4:56.84), also set new PRs, finishing 33rd, 34th and 36th and breaking the five-minute mark. Bethany Steiner (5:07.55) also competed for SU.
Emma Eastman turned in a strong finish in the 3000-meter run. She took 18th overall, adding another personal best, in 9:23.15. Her time was ninth among the collegiate competition at the meet. Olivia Joly (9:41.84) and Caroline Kirby (9:45.03), were 41st and 45th overall, respectively, each with a new PR.
Shona McCulloch (9:52.84), Emily Nugent (10:02.26) and Madeline Heintz (10:02.41) also turned in PRs, while Reilly Zink (9:55.08) was three seconds shy of her previous best mark.
In New York, Kaleia Arrington set a new personal-best time of 24.98 seconds in the 200-meter dash. She finished seventh overall. Shaleah Colaire (25.35) and Peyton Rollins (25.42) were not far behind.
Elijah Mallard finished sixth in the men's 400-meter dash with a time of 48.63 seconds. Xayvion Perkins turned in a new PR in the event with a time of 51.04, taking 31st.
Kirstyn Schechter finished the 400-meter dash in 1:00.51.
'Cuse is back in action next weekend at the Scarlet and White Invitational in Boston and the Kane Invitational at Cornell.
