SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Graduate student Buster Sjoberg's goal in the 77th minute helped level the match at one as No. 10 Syracuse played to a 1-1 draw Sunday after against No. 21 Clemson.
Both scores came in the second half as Arthur Duquenne scored for the Tigers while Sjoberg netted a goal in back-to-back ACC contests.
Clemson held the advantages in shots (10-7) and corner kicks (5-2).
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Syracuse nearly got on the board in the final minute of the first half, using efficient passing to set up an open Daniel Diaz Bonilla outside the box. Diaz Bonilla sent the ball over Clemson keeper Joseph Andema, hitting the top woodwork.
After a scoreless 45 minutes that saw the teams combine for five shot attempts, Duquenne ended the nil-nil match less than six minutes into the second half.
An Orange defender attempted to clear the ball, sending it to Alex Meinhard, who passed the ball off to Duquenne, who sent it past a diving Syracuse goalkeeper, Jahiem Wickham.
'Cuse was able to net the equalizer at 76:59 off a free kick just outside the box. Sjoberg sent the shot perfectly over the Clemson defenders, into the top-left corner of the net for the score.
Both goalkeepers made key stops in the second half to keep the game level. Wickham made a pair of saves for the Orange in the draw.
