SYRACUSE, N.Y. – No. 22 Syracuse concludes its non-conference schedule on Tuesday, Oct. 18, against Yale. Kickoff from the SU Soccer Stadium is slated for 7 p.m. (ACCNX).
'Cuse Update
The Orange played to a 1-1 draw Sunday afternoon against No. 21 Clemson.
Graduate student Buster Sjoberg leveled the match at one at the 76:59 mark, sending a free kick into the top left corner of the net.
Sjoberg has recorded a point in three straight matches and has scored in back-to-back Atlantic Coast Conference contests.
The Tigers held the advantages in shot attempts (10-7) and corner kicks (5-3).
With the free kick goal, 'Cuse has 11 of its 21 come via the set piece.
Sophomore goalkeeper Jahiem Wickham made two saves against the Tigers, giving him multiple stops in all six appearances this season.
Scouting the Bulldogs
Kylie Stannard is in his eighth season at the helm of the Yale men's soccer program. The Bulldogs are 6-4-2 and 1-1-2 through the halfway point in the Ivy League. Yale is 2-3-1 on the road in 2023. In its last outing on Saturday, Oct. 14, Yale lost, 3-1, to Harvard. Alex Umana scored his second goal of the season, becoming the fifth different player with two goals for the Bulldogs. Max Rogers paces the team with two goals and eight points.
Goalkeeper Chris Edwards has played every minute of the team's 12 matches, compiling a 1.17 goals against average and a .702 save percentage with four shutouts.
Series History
Wednesday's match will be the fourth all-time meeting between Syracuse and Yale in a series that began in 1920. The series is tied, 1-1-1. The Bulldogs won the first meeting, 1-0, before the Orange won a 4-2 match on Sept. 28, 1985, in overtime. In the most recent match, the team's played to a 1-1 double overtime draw on Sept. 6, 2019, at the SU Soccer Stadium.
