Syracuse finishes out its exhibition slate on Wednesday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m., when the squad hosts Division II College of St. Rose at the JMA Wireless Dome.
Setting the Stage
For the Orange hope to extend their 26-game exhibition winning-streak. The last time out, on Oct. 27, Syracuse defeated Division II Daemen in the Dome, 81-68.
The matchup will be St. Rose's first action this season. The Knights were 9-20 overall and 3-17 finish in the Northeast-10 Conference. Knights' head coach Brian Beaury is returning to the helm after a four-year absence. He constructed a record of 643-226 in his 32 seasons with the program.
Steadying the Ship
In last Friday's contest against Daemen, the Orange led by double-digits for the final 32 minutes of action. Sophomores Justin Taylor and Quadir Copeland led the scoring efforts, with 12 points apiece. All nine players who saw floor action scored for Syracuse.
Fresh Faces
Syracuse's transfer students were able to blend right in. Center Naheem McLeod, formerly at Florida State, producing eight points on four-of-five shooting, and added two blocks. Notre Dame transfer J.J. Starling posted 10 points, six assists, and a team-leading six rebounds. A third transfer student, Kyle Cuffe Jr., was productive from behind the arc and scored 11 points on three-for-six 3-point shooting.
'Cuse Fans can Vote for Mintz
Sophomore Judah Mintz is one of 20 players named to the 2024 Bob Cousy Award watch list; the prestigious tophy presented annually to the top point guard in Division I. Orange fans can get involved by voting for Mintz on line at hoophallawards.com. In late January, the list of 20 players for the 2024 Bob Cousy Award will be narrowed to 10, and then in late February, to five. In March, the five finalists will be presented to Cousy and the Hall of Fame's selection committee, and a winner will be chosen.
