Orange, Eagles Meet Wednesday
11/14/2023 3:55:00 PM | Women's Basketball
Syracuse women's basketball will try to keep its win streak going as the Orange take on the Coppin State this Wednesday, Nov. 15, inside the JMA Wireless Dome. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m. for 'Cuse Culture Night, celebrating all those that make Syracuse University unique.
The Orange enter the game on a high note following the first 100-plus point performance by a Syracuse squad in Head Coach Felisha Legette-Jack's tenure. 'Cuse beat Central Connecticut State, 101-53, in last Friday's contest. Fifth-year guard Dyaisha Fair led the team with 28 points, scoring 22 in the first half, while four other Orange also scored in double figures. Sophomore forward Kyra Wood shot a perfect 6-for-6 from the field, posting 15 points and five rebounds coming off the bench for SU. Freshman Alyssa Latham has recorded back-to-back double doubles to start her collegiate career and ranks fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) for rebounds per game (10.5).
Wednesday's contest will be the seventh game between the Orange and the Eagles, with Syracuse victorious in all six previous meetings. The two squads last faced off in 2022 when 'Cuse earned a 93-75 victory behind Fair's 27-point performance. The Coppin State University Eagles will enter the JMA Wireless Dome 1-2 overall after a 70-34 win over Saint Francis on Monday. It will be a homecoming of sorts for CSU's Faith Blackstone, who began her collegiate career at Syracuse during the 2020-21 season. Blackstone is third on the team in scoring for Coppin State with 13.7 points per game. CSU is led by Angel Jones (17.0 ppg) and Laila Lawrence (14.3 ppg) while Lawrence also leads the team with 9.0 boards per game.
'Cuse Culture Night will feature a parade of nations at halftime and is geared towards celebrating the dynamic cultures and groups that make the campus community unique.
Fans unable to attend the game can watch live on ACC Network Extra which can be streamed online or through the ESPN app.
