Autry Earns First Win in Coaching Debut

Syracuse (1-0) started the Adrian "Red" Autry era with a win against New Hampshire (0-1), 83-72, on Monday night inside the JMA Wireless Dome.
Sophomore guard Quadir Copeland achieved his first double-double of his career, grabbing a career-best 12 boards and scoring 10 points. Sophomore guard Judah Mintz scored a team-high 20 points, which included a 9-of-11 effort from the foul line. This is the fourteenth consecutive game Mintz has scored in double-digits.
WHEN THE GAME WAS DECIDED
With 1:38 left in the game, Mintz spun to toss in his 20th point, giving the Orange an 11-point lead and sealing the victory for the home team. Copeland went on to make a layup with :47 left to produce his first career double-double.
LEADING EARLY
With 14:04 left in the first half, Syracuse surged past the visitors with a 11-0 run. The stretch gave the Orange a 28-6 advantage with 9:51 left to go. The Orange held a double-digit lead for the rest of the first half. Three Orange performers slammed down dunks. Mintz started the run with a slam off a caused turnover, Peter Carey scored his first collegiate basket with a dunk off a lob from sophomore guard J.J. Starling, and Copeland added dunk.
HOT AT THE FOUL LINE
Syracuse shot an impressive 81.5% (22-for-27) mark at the charity stripe. The guard duo of Mintz (9-for-11) and Starling (4-for-4) combined to make 13-of-14 attempts. Six different Orange players were able to toss in at least two from the line.

NOTABLE NUMBERS
- Following the triumph in Coach Autry's first game as head coach, the eight men who have served as head coach at Syracuse now have a combined record of 7-1 in their debuts.
- With the victory over New Hampshire, Syracuse has now won 19 of its last 20 season openers.
- Maliq Brown tied his career-best with four steals. The last time he achieved that mark was at Georgia Tech on Jan. 21, 2023.
- Syracuse had five performers reach double figures in scoring. Mintz led the scoring with 20 points, Justin Taylor had 14 points, and Brown, Copeland and Starling all each had 10 points.
- The Orange topped the Wildcats in rebounds (47-41), steals (13-6), points in the paint (46-32), and points off the bench (30-9).
