A SATISFYING START FOR COACH AUTRY
Adrian  Autry '94, who was a four-year starter at Syracuse as a player before returning to the program as an assistant coach, was victorious against New Hampshire in his first regular-season game at the helm of his alma mater. Autry was named to succeed Hall of Fame head coach Jim Boeheim, who retired following his 47th season in charge.

SETTING THE STAGE
Syracuse opened its season with an 83-72 victory against New Hampshire on Monday night. The Orange had five players post double-digit scoring numbers, led by sophomore guard Judah Mintz, who had 20.

The Golden Griffins begin their 120th season on Wednesday night. Canisius completed the 2022-23 campaign by winning five of its last seven contests. The Golden Griffins finished with a 10-20 overall record, and an 8-12 mark in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).

THE SYRACUSE-CANISIUS SERIES
Syracuse has a 46-24 advantage in the all-time series with Canisius. The most recent matchup against the Golden Griffins took place 11 years ago on Dec. 15, 2012 The Orange emerged from that encounter, 85-61. Syracuse owns a 21-game winning streak in the series.

In the victory against New Hampshire, sophomore guard Quadir Copeland achieved his first career double-double with 10 points and 13 boards. Besides Mintz and Copeland, the Orange also received 14 points from sophomore guard Justin Talor and 10 points each from sophomores JJ Starling, a guard, and forward Maliq Brown.

This year's Syracuse squad is tied for 16th in Division I for the youngest average age of all scholarship players at 20.40 years. Virginia Military Institute tops the list with an average age of 19.1. The Orange have the lowest average among ACC schools.
