Orange, Leopards Tip-Off Tuesday Night
11/6/2023 5:33:00 PM | Women's Basketball
Syracuse is set to begin the second year of the Felisha Legette-Jack Era on Tuesday night when the Orange take the floor at the JMA Wireless Dome. Game time is set for 7 p.m. on ACC Network Extra.
Syracuse cruised to a 77-53 win on Oct. 31 in the lone preseason test for the Orange. Syracuse's standout guard and All-ACC First Team performer from a season ago, Dyaisha Fair, had 20 points in the win. She was joined by freshman Sophie Burrows who hit six shots from three-point range (6-for-9) who also finished with 20 points. Kyra Wood and graduate transfer Izabel Varejão had seven and six rebounds each, respectively, while Varejão had a team-high four blocks.
Lafayette posted a 10-19 overall record a season ago and was 7-11 in the Patriot League. Tuesday is just the second meeting all-time between the two programs. Syracuse and Lafayette first met on Nov. 19, 2011 when Syracuse won 74-54. This is the third-straight year the Leopards have scheduled an ACC opponent though last season's game against Notre Dame on Dec. 8 was postponned but never rescheduled. Two season's ago Lafayette opened the season with a 72-62 v loss at Pittsburgh.
Syracuse posted a 20-13 overall record last season and reached the Super 16 of the Women's NIT. The Orange were picked to finish ninth in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) this season while Fair was a Preseason All-ACC selection.
Fans unable to attend can watch the game live on ACC Network which can be streamed online or through the ESPN app.
