Syracuse (6-3) faces familiar foe Georgetown (5-3) for the 99^th meeting on Saturday, Dec. 9, at 11:30 a.m., in Washington, D.C.'s, Capital One Arena

SETTING THE STAGE
The Orange have benefited from the play of national player of the year candidate Judah Mintz. The sophomore guard tops the team in scoring average (19.6 ppg.) and is among the Division I Ieaders in free throws attempted (fifth) and made (sixth). Sophomore guard Chris Bell ranks second in scoring (14.0 ppg.) while sophomore forward Justin Taylor has been the squad leader in rebound average (6.2 rpg.).

The Hoyas were edged in their most recent outing in the BIG EAST/Big 12 Challenge by TCU, 84-83. Georgetown's top scorer, Jayden Epps, logged a squad-high 24 points, five assists and four rebounds in the contest.

THE SYRACUSE-GEORGETOWN SERIES
Syracuse has a 53-45 advantage in the series with Georgetown. The last matchup between the Orange and the Hoyas was on Dec. 10, 2022, and Syracuse won, 83-64. The game on Saturday will mark the ninth consecutive year that the programs have met in the regular season.

LAST TIME OUT
The Orange defeated Cornell on Tuesday, 81-70. It was Syracuse's 43rd consecutive triumph against the Big Red. Mintz had a game-high 28 points, sophomore forward Chris Bell scored 19 points, and sophomore forward Justin Taylor tallied 15 points, eight rebounds and six assists. Sophomore center Maliq Brown's team-high 12 rebounds tied his collegiate-best effort.

SCOUTING THE OPPONENT
The Hoyas have five players averaging double-digit scoring: sophomore guard Jayden Epps (19.1 ppg.), junior forward Dontrez Styles (16.4 ppg.), graduate forward Ismael Massoud (12.5 ppg.), senior forward Supreme Cook (10.9 ppg.) and senior guard Jay Heath (10.1 ppg.). Cook averages a team-best 8.1 rebounds per game. Epps leads the squad with 36 assists on the season.

SYRACUSE FANS CAN VOTE MINTZ FOR COUSY AWARD
Mintz is one of 20 watch-list candidates for the 2024 Bob Cousy Award, which is annually presented to the top point guard in Division I men's basketball. Orange followers are encouraged to participate in three rounds of Fan Voting, presented by Dell Technologies, on hoophallawards.com.

Mintz is also on the watch list for the Naismith Trophy and John R. Wooden Award. Each list in comprised of 50 student-athletes. The lists for each award will be narrowed throughout the year, and winners of the awards will be announced later in the season.
