Syracuse alum Freddie Crittenden III became a U.S. Champion in the 60-meter hurdles on Saturday, the third US title in the event claimed by an Orange alum in the last seven years.
Crittenden raced to a personal-best time of 7.49 seconds, 0.004 seconds ahead of Robert Dunning to claim the gold. He joins Jarret Eaton (2016 and 2018) in winning USATF 60-meter hurdles title among 'Cuse alums.
This personal best performance came on the heels of Crittenden taking fifth in the 110-meter hurdles at last year's USATF Outdoor Championships in which he turned in a career best 13.14 seconds.
A five-time All-American and six-time All-ACC honoree in his time at Syracuse, Crittenden was a runner-up in back-to-back seasons at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in his collegiate career at Syracuse, where he graduated in 2017. He has since had a successful international career and also competed regularly in the Diamond League and American Track League.
