Senior center Jesse Edwards led all scorers with a personal-best 27-point output and Syracuse (14-10, 6-6) completed its second sweep of the season with a 77-68 road victory at Boston College (11-13, 5-8).
Â
Senior guard Joseph Girard III, who contributed 18 points, converted all nine of his free throw attempts for the Orange. Freshman guard Judah Mintz finished with 15 points, five assists and four steals. Justin Taylor, a freshman forward, knocked down a trio of 3-pointers and ended up with nine points.
Mintz completed a three-point play after being fouled on a made basket and BC's Price Aligbe made a layup to tie things up, 7-7, four minutes into the contest. Girard answered by putting the Orange up three with his first 3-pointer of the night.
Â
Two minutes later, Mintz added a jumper and Girard recorded two made free-throws after being fouled by Makai Ashton-Langford. SU then held a four-point advantage, 16-12, its second largest of the first frame.
Â
At the seven-minute mark in the opening half, a fast break dunk by Aligbe brought the Eagles within a single point of the Orange. Consecutive layups by Edwards and Mintz, respectively, expanded SU's lead to five (26-21).
Â
With a second-chance triple by Justin Taylor to end the half, the 'Cuse entered the break with a 35-32 edge.
Â
SECOND FRAME THRILLER
Twenty seconds after returning from halftime, a foul by Devin Mcglockton sent Edwards to the charity stripe, where he made both tries. Boston College countered with a 9-2 stretch, started by a Jaeden Zackery layup and ended with a jumper by Quinten Post. Â At the conclusion of the Eagles' run, the Orange were down, 41-39.
Â
Syracuse produced the 10 unanswered points, kickstarted by a layup by Symir Torrence. Taylor knocked down a pair of 3-pointers and Edwards sandwiched a second-chance hook shot in between. All four Orange scorers dished out an assist within the run, and SU led BC, 49-41, with 14 minutes left to go.Â
Â
Two minutes after Syracuse's epic scoring run, a pair of 3-pointers by Boston College knotted the contest, 53-53. Ashton-Langford and Chas Kelley III knocked down the back-to-back trios for the Eagles.
