The NFL Scouting Combine is underway for Syracuse's three invitees!
Matthew Bergeron, Garrett Williams and Sean Tucker are all in Indianapolis to meet with and showcase their skills for NFL teams ahead of the draft next month.
Williams kicked things off today with media interviews, and defensive backs will have their testing begin on Friday at 3 p.m. on NFL Network. Williams is limited after suffering a season ending injury in October. Bergeron and Tucker will have their position groups on-field testing beginning at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Â
Syracuse's three invitees are the fifth-most of any ACC school. The three headline a strong draft class, that also features Butkus Award semifinalist Mikel Jones, Andre Szmyt, the most accurate kicker in program history, and captains Chris Elmore and Aaron Bolinsky, among others expected to garner looks from professional squads. This year marks the third time in the last four seasons that the program has sent three-or-more participants to the combine.
Bergeron, currently rated as the fifth-best tackle in the draft by NFL Draft guru Mel Kiper, also participated in the Senior Bowl earlier this year. The All-ACC and AP All-ACC selection, he graded out as one of the top-15 pass blocking tackles in college football last season, according to Pro Football Focus.
Tucker shattered Syracuse's single-season rushing record as a sophomore in 2021, before doubling down and becoming the first player in program history to post back-to-back seasons with 1,000+ rushing and 250+ receiving yards. A two-time All-ACC selection, he was also an All-American in 2021.
Â
Williams had his redshirt sophomore season cut short due to injury after just six games, but still earned All-ACC honors this year, making him a three-time all-conference selection in his career. Despite the injury, he enters the draft as Kiper's No. 8 ranked cornerback. He led the ACC in pass breakups in both 2020 and 2021.
In addition to the combine, Syracuse will host its Pro Day for all NFL hopefuls on March 20.
