
Tennis Set For Three Match Clash

The No. 16 Orange (9-0, 3-0 ACC) look to stay undefeated this weekend, as they host a three match homestand against No. 15 Virginia (7-3, 1-1 ACC), Coppin State (0-7) and a ranked Virginia Tech (8-3, 0-2 ACC) squad. Syracuse faces the Cavaliers at 3 p.m. on Friday at Drumlins Country Club, followed by an 11:00 a.m. match against the Eagles on Saturday. The squad closes out the weekend at home against the Hokies at 11:00am on Sunday.

The 'Cuse is 1-14 all-time against Virginia and is even (7-7) in the series against the Hokies. Saturday's match will be the first between Syracuse and Coppin State.

'Cuse continued its winning ways with a 4-3 victory over Florida State on Feb. 24, followed by an upset win against No. 23 Miami on Feb. 26. Despite losing the doubles point against the Hurricanes, Syracuse rallied in singles. Zeynep Erman propelled the Orange into the lead with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over the No. 8 ranked singles player, Alexa Noel, and the Orange secured the 5-2 victory against the Hurricanes.

Syracuse is attempting to start 10-0 for the first time since the 1978-79 season. After this weekend, the Orange get a week off before heading South for two road matches against Clemson (March 17) and Georgia Tech (March 19).
