
Orange Open Weekend at Texas Relays

A busy weekend across the country for the 'Cuse track and field teams began in Austin with the 400-meter Hurdles at the Texas Relays on Thursday.
Elijah Mallard finished second in the men's event, crossing the line in a time of 52.35 seconds. The freshman took second in his heat to the winner from Thursday – Ja'Qualon Scott of Texas A&M Kingsville, who posted one of the nation's top-10 times on the early season. Xayvion Perkins (54.77) was 26th in the event.
Shaleah Colaire ran to a time of 1:02.05 in the women's race, which was 21st in an elite field that featured over 75 competitors. Kirstyn Schechter (1:05.16) also raced.
The Orange will continue action on Friday split across three different meets. Some members of the program will head to Texas State today to race in the Bobcat Invitational, others will get their Texas Relays competition started in Austin, while some 'Cuse distance runners are out in Palo Alto racing in the Stanford Invitational.
