
Seven Earn Midseason All-America Honors

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Syracuse graduate student Meaghan Tyrrell and senior Delaney Sweitzer highlight a group of seven members of the Orange selected to the Inside Lacrosse Women's Division I All-American teams. Syracuse had the most selections of any team in the NCAA, as well as being one of only three teams with two first-team selections.

Tyrrell and Sweitzer were both selected to the first team, while graduate students Megan Carney and Sierra Cockerille were chosen to the second team, along with junior defender Katie Goodale. Junior attacker Emma Ward was selected to the third team, while senior Emma Tyrrell was as an honorable mention honoree.

Meghan Tyrrell ranks third in the nation in points with 66 and fourth in assists with 35. She has recorded six or more points in seven of 12 games. Her 11 points against Maryland rank as the third-highest single-game total for a Division I player this season.

Sweitzer has reached double figures in saves four times this season, including a career-high 15-save performance against Virginia Tech. She leads the ACC and ranks second in the nation in save percentage (.559). In addition, Sweitzer is third nationally in goals-against average (7.72) and 10th in saves (106).

Carney is the Orange's leading goal scorer with 40 goals. She ranks sixth nationally and second in the ACC in goals, as well as 10th nationally and second in the ACC in goals per game (3.64). Carney's 44 points this season rank ninth in the ACC and third on the team.

Cockerille has played in all 12 games, making 11 starts, in the midfield for the Orange. She has 16 goals, six assists, 13 ground balls, 12 draw controls and four caused turnovers. Cockerille has played a role in both the offense and defense ranking among the top 10 in the latest Division I statistics.

Goodale leads the Orange this season in caused turnovers with 18 and is second on the team in groundballs with 20. She has helped anchor the defensive unit that held its opponent to less than 10 goals six times this season.

Ward leads the ACC and ranks third in the nation in assists with 39. In addition, her 57 points are fifth nationally. Ward has dished out seven assists on two occasions this season, which tie for the fifth-highest single-game total in the nation.

Emma Tyrrell has scored four goals in each of the last three games, increasing her season total to 32. She ranks second on the team in goals and fourth in points (41). Tyrrell also has 11 draw controls, eight ground balls and three caused turnovers.
