4/7/2023 4:23:00 PM | Women's Rowing
The eighth-ranked Syracuse Orange will race third-ranked Yale and Cornell on Saturday, April 8th on Fish Creek in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The varsity eights will race for the Cayuga Cup, which was created in 2003. The race day schedule includes the first, second, third and fourth varsity eights and the first, second and third varsity fours. Racing begins at 3 pm.
The Cayuga Cup was created in 2003 for the winner of the race between Cornell, Yale and Syracuse. Syracuse, which competed in the Cayuga Cup race from 2003 through 2011, is seeking to win its first Cayuga Cup after second place finishes in 2005, 2007 and 2009.
'Cuse heads into the weekend after winning the Doc Hosea Invitational, where the Orange beat #8 Penn, Northeastern, Bucknell and Villanova. Syracuse jumped two places in the national rankings, from 10th to eighth, in this week's poll. The Orange won three races, including the varsity eight Orange Challenge Cup, and had one second place and two third place finishes on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, N.J. The varsity four beat Penn, Northeastern and Bucknell, and the second varsity four took first in its race, ahead of Penn, Bucknell and Northeastern.
