Orange 8+ Opens Racing at Henley Royal Regatta on Wednesday

At 9:15 am on Wednesday morning the Orange women will race down the Thames River at the Henley Royal Regatta in Henley-On-Thames for the first time in program history. The 8+ will race Oxford Brookes University 'C' at 9:15 am UK (4:15 am ET). The Henley Royal Regatta format is a knockout competition, with each race consisting of two crews racing side-by-side up the Henley course. Each cup is a single-elimination draw. The entire Henley Royal Regatta is streamed live on YouTube.

Syracuse's eight features coxswain Hannah Murphy, stroke Ellie-Kate Hutchinson, Aphrodite Gioulekas, India Aikens, Olivia Schaertl, Lena Radke, Zoe Acosta, Haley Uliasz and bow Heather Stafford. The winner of that race will face the University of Texas. The Island Challenge Cup field features 24 crews, including nine collegiate crews from the United States (Syracuse, Stanford, Texas, Penn, Radcliffe, Northeastern, Princeton and Georgetown.

The 'Cuse four will race on Friday, June 30 in the Town Challenge Cup against the winner of the race between the University of London & Leander Club and Strathclyde Park R.C. & Aberdeen Schools R.A. The Orange four includes stroke Izabela Krakic, Emmie Frederico, Annika Maxson and bow Alena Criss. Stanford and Northeastern are the other U.S. programs in the Town Challenge Cup. Seniors Madison D'Ambra and Junior Ognovich are the Syracuse spares.
The world-famous regatta, considered the most prestigious event in the sport, features more than 300 races in six days showcasing talented athletes from all over the world. The 2023 Henley Royal Regatta began on Tuesday, June 27 and concludes on Sunday, July 2.
