FRISCO, Texas – Returning from the All-Star break, the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) took its talents to The Star in Frisco, Texas for week six of the regular season.
Playing indoors at the Dallas Cowboys practice facility was like playing at home in the Dome for the many Orange involved this weekend.
Atlas LC Won 11-9 Over Chrome LC
Brendan Curry turned in a three point game with a one-point goal and two assists as Atlas got back in the win column. Curry scored with 66 seconds left in the first to put Atlas up 4-1 before assisting Chris Gray 30 seconds later for a 5-1 advantage. Curry added a second assist to Gray for a 9-4 lead through three quarters.
Drake Porter was on the game day dress roster for Atlas LC but did not see the field.
Atlas LC assistant coach Steven Brooks was a key member of the staff to help Atlas back to the win column.
Redwoods LC Lost 16-10 to Cannons LC
Cole Kirst logged his first career professional hat trick, tagging the Cannons for three one-point goals while adding an assist for a professional-best four points. Kirst added the first Redwoods goal midway through the first quarter, assisting Wes Berg 30 seconds later as the Redwoods took a 3-1 lead. The recent grad logged his second with 64 seconds to go in the half, the lone Redwoods goal of the second quarter. Kirst added his third goal early in the third, trimming the Cannon lead to one at 9-8. Kirst had the chance to play against his older brother, Colin Kirst.
Whipsnakes LC Won 17-16 Over Chaos LC
Brett Kennedy added a caused turnover and snared three ground balls as the Whipsnakes edged past Chaos in a back-and-forth game. Kennedy picked up a crucial faceoff ground ball early in the fourth quarter as Whips held on for the win.
Tucker Dordevic tagged Chaos for one goal with a ground ball. Dordevic's goal put the Whipsnakes up 3-2 late in the first quarter. Dordevic hit the bottom left corner with enough force that the shot broke the stringing on the cage, forcing a delay in the game for repairs.
