SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Senior Jeorgio Kocevski tallied two goals in Syracuse's 4-0 victory over Marist Saturday evening as the team concludes exhibition play.
Graduate student Felipe D'Agostini also added his name to the scoresheet multiple times, recording a goal and two assists.
Junior Giona Leibold opened the scoring for the Orange in the 10th minute, receiving the cross feed from D'Agostini before striking it from just outside the box past the Marist keeper.
Holding a 1-0 lead, the visiting Red Foxes nearly tied the contest with a penalty kick attempt. 'Cuse keeper Jason Smith turned the shot away, smothering Jared Juleau's attempt at the equalizer.
In the 30th minute, D'Agostini and Leibold both helped set up the second Syracuse goal of the contest as Leibold sent the ball into the box for a waiting Kocevski, who sent it into the right part of the net.
Entering the second half with a 2-0 lead, Kocevski struck again in the 54th minute. On the Orange corner, Kocevski corralled the blocked shot, tapping it into the left side of the net.
D'Agostini closed out the scoring in the 79th minute of the contest, giving Syracuse at least four goals in all three exhibitions.
Syracuse opens the 2023 regular season on Thursday, August 24 versus Providence. Kick off at the SU Soccer Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. Admission is open to the public and free of charge.
