Another split weekend on the docket for the No. 10 Syracuse University field hockey team. On Friday, the Orange host No. 6 Virginia for International Students Day at J.S. Coyne Stadium. Game time is set for 2 p.m. on ACC Network Extra. Sunday sees Syracuse head to Central Pennsylvania for a clash at No. 16 Penn State. Sunday is set to start at noon.
From the Start
- No. 10 Syracuse hosts No. 6 Virginia in a crucial ACC clash for the first conference game at home for the Orange.
- Syracuse is coming off a split weekend, falling at No. 9 Duke on Friday before responding on Sunday with a 5-1 win over in-state foe Wagner College, thanks to a hat trick from Charlotte de Vries.
- This weekend, Syracuse is home and away, taking on Virginia Friday before heading to  Happy Valley on Sunday for a noon tilt against No. 16 Penn State.
- The Orange look to collect their first ACC win of the season while hunting the first Syracuse win over Virginia since the 2015 season.
- Sunday's showdown is the first regular season meeting between the Orange and the Nittany Lions since the 2007 season, current head coach Lynn Farquhar's first season as an assistant coach at Syracuse.

- Putting together scouting reports may be a difficult task for 2023 opponents this year.
- Through the first seven games of the season, 15 players have logged at least one point, paced by 20 from Eefke van den Nieuwenhof and 16 from Pieke van de Pas.Â
- All 13 of those players have logged multiple points, including 10 different goal-getters.
- Over the five games, seven newcomers contributed points: van de Pas, Aiden Drabick, Sarah Smalley, Hattie Madden, Bo Madden, Amber Coebergh and Myrthe van Bolhuis.
Protect Coyne
- Like a bank vault, you have to protect the Coyne.
- Syracuse finished the 2022 regular season with a 9-0 record at J.S. Coyne Stadium this season, allowing just eight goals on the home field.
- Syracuse was one of five 2022 NCAA Division I teams with an untarnished home record through the NCAA Tournament: Syracuse (9-0), Lock Haven (10-0), Maryland (12-0), and James Madison (6-0).
- The Orange have won their last 14 regular season games at Coyne, dating back to a 6-0 shutout over Cornell in October 2021.
- Overall, Syracuse has won 13-straight home wins the longest home winning streak in Division I.
