
Tennis Wraps Up Day Two at Cissie Leary

PHILADELPHIA – It was another successful day for the Syracuse University women's tennis program as the Orange concluded day two of the Cissie Leary Invitational hosted by University of Pennsylvania.
In another day of hidden duels at Hecht Tennis Center and Hamlin Tennis Courts, the Orange played one doubles match against Princeton and a pair against Temple, followed by two singles matches against the former and another four against the latter.
In the doubles matches, Shiori Ito and Miyuka Kimoto paired up for a tight 7-6 (7-3) win. Double pairs of Polina Kozyreva and Ines Fonte alongside Anastasia Sysoeva and Viktoriya Kanapatskaya each won 6-1 in their respective matches.
Fonte swept her opponent from Temple by a 6-4, 6-2 count. Kanapatskaya likewise swept against her Princeton foe at 6-1, 6-4. Kimoto topped her opponent from Temple with set scores of 6-2, 6-1. Ito needed extra points for her sweep against Temple, going 7-5, 7-6. Sysoeva also went the distance with winning sets of 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-2).
Syracuse concludes the Cissie Leary Invitational on Sunday, leading off at 9 a.m. at Hecht Tennis Center and Hamlin Tennis Courts. The Orange square off against USF for the final day.
